据山东省德州市中级人民法院官方微博（@德州中院 ）11月19日发布情况通报，宣布“女子因不孕遭婆家虐待致死”一案因原审不公开开庭审理，违反法律规定的诉讼程序，裁定撤销原判，发回禹城市人民法院重新审理。

女子遭丈夫和公婆频繁虐待致死案被发回中国东部山东省的一家法院重审。

【讲解】

frequent abuse是频繁虐待。
受害人姓方，来自山东德州，据称因不能怀孕（could not get pregnant），经常遭到丈夫和公婆（parents-in-law）的殴打。
据公诉人（public prosecutor）介绍，自2018年7月份以来，张丙及其父母多次对方某实施饿肚子（starving her）、用木棍抽打（beating her with a wooden stick）、冬天在外罚站（keeping her standing outside in winter）等虐待行为，且在2019年1月31日多次殴打方某，致使方某死亡（result in her death），年仅22岁。
2020年1月，禹城市人民法院做出一审判决，方某公公（father-in-law）张吉林犯虐待罪（the crime of abuse），判处有期徒刑三年；方某婆婆（mother-in-law）刘兰英犯虐待罪，判处有期徒刑二年二个月；方某丈夫张丙犯虐待罪，判处有期徒刑二年，缓刑三年（sentenced to two years in prison with a three-year reprieve）。
禹城法院表示，鉴于各被告人（defendants）归案后均能如实供述犯罪事实（truthfully confessed to the facts of the crime），构成坦白且具有悔罪表现（shows repentance）, 决定从轻处罚（lighter punishment）；各被告人亲属（relatives）自愿预交赔偿金人民币5万元（voluntarily paid compensation of 50,000 yuan in advance），故决定从轻处罚。
当地媒体曝光这起虐待事件后，此案在网上引起广泛关注（drawn wide attention online）。
方某家属向德州中院提起上诉（filed an appeal）。
德州市中级人民法院近日撤销了（annul）对三名被告人的原判，并责令禹城市人民法院重新审理此案（retry the case）。
禹城市人民法院通报称，其已依法另行组成合议庭（collegiate bench），拟于周四公开开庭审理该案（hear the case in public）。
