The average Chinese read 7.86 books last year, including 4.65 printed books and 3.21 eBooks, according to an annual UKeng.com/tags-1666-0.html" target="_blank" >poll released by the Chinese Academy of Press and Publication last Tuesday.

根据中国新闻出版研究院上周二发布的一项年度调查显示,去年国人平均图书阅读量为7.86本,其中纸质图书4.65本,电子书3.21本。

It surveyed 22,415 people in 52 cities.

共有来自52个城市的22415人接受了此次调查。

Those aged 14 to 17 read most - more than nine books a year. 90% of parents read to or with their children. 62% of Chinese read on WeChat.

14岁至17岁年龄段的人读书最多--每年超过9本;90%的家长会给孩子读书或陪伴孩子读书;62%的国人在微信上读书。

The survey also found that more than 17% of Chinese used audio books last year, a fairly new trend.

该调查还发现一个新趋势,去年有超过17%的国人使用有声读物。

Romance, history, languages and lectures were the favored audio content.

最受青睐的有声读物类型包括爱情、历史、语言和演讲类。

Xu Shengguo, Director of China Academy of Press and Publication Research Institute, said going back to hard-copy books is a worldwide trend, which has appeared in countries such as the U.S., the UK and France.

中国新闻出版研究院主任徐升国表示,回归纸质图书是一个全球性的趋势,并且已经在像美国、英国和法国这样的国家出现了。

"Although digital reading is quick and convenient, it's only suitable for fragmented reading practices, while reading hard-copy books are conducive to in-depth reading," Xu said.

徐升国说道:“虽然电子阅读很快捷、方便,但是它只适合碎片化阅读,而阅读纸质书则有利于深入阅读。”
