在日常英语中，大家都知道这个词表示“思考，思索”，比如：

This is the method that we have been speculating about.

这正是我们一直在思考的方法。

但是在商务英语中，它的意思却是“投机、买空卖空”，比如：

to speculate on the futures 搞期货投机生意

stocks speculate 股票投资

它的名词形式是speculation，比如：

speculation on foreign exchange 外汇投机

He made money in estate speculation. 

他靠房地产投机发了财。
