英语口语表达 How is the word?

　　一名英国客人正在酒店订房间，这时假设你是酒店的服务人员，想问问这位客人的名字如何拼写，你应该怎么用英文说呢？
　　错误说法：How to spell the name？
　　地道说法：How is the word?/How is the name spelt？
　　无论是初中学生和大学英语专业的学生，还是饭店服务员到各种机构译员，不少人习惯的说着"How to spell the name?",这是个既不被人注意又不符合英语习惯的普遍错误。当然不是说how to spell这个短语本身有误，而是不宜直接当作问题来问。当然，如果有人觉得好记一定要用这个的话，建议可以这样说："Could you tell me how to spell the name,sir?”
