The placenta is what keeps the calf alive during pregnancy. Directly connected to the mother's blood supply, it funnels nutrients and oxygen straight into the calf's body via the umbilical cord, and also exports its waste.
胎盘能维持幼子得以在怀孕的雌体内生存，与母亲的血液供应直接相连，透过脐带，运送养分与氧气直接到幼子的身体，并且同时排出体内代谢废物。
