Starting this Friday, travelers who want to use the Beijing municipal transportation cards on their smart phones will no longer need to pay the activation fee.

从本周五起，智能手机开通北京市政交通一卡通将不再收取开卡相关费用。

【讲解】

activation fee指开卡费。
iPhone 6或更新机型（newer models），及Apple Watch Series 1 或更新机型用户均可在线免费（free of charge）开通北京市政交通一卡通（Beijing municipal transportation cards）。
用户（users）可通过北京市政交通一卡通App或苹果手机钱包（Apple Wallet）App进行操作。
北京市计划借助近场通讯（Near Field Communication，简称NFC）和二维码扫描（QR code scanning）新型技术，建设全覆盖智能公共交通支付系统（all-around intelligent public transportation payment system）。
安卓用户（Andriod users）的开卡费用已于7月初取消（cancel）。
